Our granddaughter says “We Are Cheap” after opening our wedding present.

My spouse and I purchased a wedding gift from our niece’s list. They called and told us we were cheap after receiving the wedding gift. She’s upset because we didn’t give her the monetary gift we gave each of our grandchildren the day before their wedding, and she’s threatened to cut us off.I am in my seventies and am extremely proud of my five amazing grandchildren, two men and three women.

My grandchildren are extremely important to me, and I always devote time and money to them. They know they can rely on me, whether things are going well or not. Eloise, the youngest grandchild, married in October last year. My spouse and I rehearse for our grandchildren. He is also in his seventies. We normally buy a small gift from the wedding list. Instead, the day before the wedding, we present them with a $40,000 check.

It’s their decision, but we hope they build a home on it. Because we have a large family, we ask that they keep it a secret. Everyone has already followed up on it. Our tiniest granddaughter requested the cheapest gift, so that is what we sent her. Eloise called us and sounded quite angry. She claimed we were inexpensive. When I picked up the phone to speak with her, she didn’t even say hello; she simply started shrieking, “Really, Grandma?” I have your gift now. An oven for air?

That’s the least expensive item on my list.” I was surprised because the air fryer was the lowest item on the cashier. I told her I still thought it would be valuable to them. Eloise shouted out repeatedly, “Useful? You should be able to do better than that, right? Everyone knows you have the cash. I can’t believe you would treat me so poorly. “That’s not cool.”

“Yes, you’re right,” I assured her in a stressful moment. We are cheap, old, and useless. You were unaware that we were planning to send you a $40,000 cheque the day before the wedding. I told Eloise this to attempt to explain the cash gift we give our grandkids before their wedding, but she was so upset that she wouldn’t listen to anything I said. After merely getting her an air fryer, I assumed she didn’t expect such a large gift.

She finally answered, “No, it’s clear.” You do not love me enough to show it. You know how concerned I am about the wedding. Then this? “You don’t seem to care,” she replied, before hanging up. My husband and I were taken aback by Eloise’s remark, but instead of giving her the $40,000, we purchased her a set of china to make her happy, believing she had not earned it.

Let us go back to last week. Eloise’s brother confirmed that we were giving her the truth about the money. After consulting her cousins, she called us again and said, “I just found out that it’s true that you gave the money to everyone else when they got married.” “Why did I not get anything?” We stood firm and informed her, “After your reaction to the wedding gift, we felt it wasn’t right to go ahead and gift you the money.” Eloise begged us not to punish her, asking, “So, you’re punishing me?” Is this all? Because I didn’t like air fryers.”
