Much has been said about the many A-listers and their eye-catching outfits, but Kim Kardashian was the visitor who garnered the most notice, wearing a custom John Galliano dress.
The 43-year-old reality TV star’s outfit was described as a strapless silver corset over floor-length silver leaf mesh netting and a grey shrug-style cardigan – say that five times fast – and it elicited passionate responses from some of those watching the Met Gala from home. Now, we’re not saying Kim K didn’t look beautiful, but take a closer look at the shape of her ensemble, notably the corset element, and you would agree that some people were correct to point out that the constrictive nature left them feeling “uncomfortable”.
Simply put, the corset’s design makes the TV personality’s waist appear so small that her body appears to have undergone a radical reshuffle in order to fit. People flocked to social media to express their opinions on Kim’s design choices, with some stating her dress “actually is concerning” if others attempted to replicate it. Another commenter stated that Kardashian will “continue to promote an unhealthy waist” that was “not natural and healthy”.

According to the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom, long-term usage of such corsets left women with distorted ribcages, affected digestive tracts, and atrophied back muscles.
