Trisha Yearwood’s Cowboy Lasagna

Lasagna is a popular choice for family dinners because it appeals to almost everyone and serves a large number of people. In addition, the presentation is entertaining. Trisha Yearwood’s lasagna contains a few additional elements that add to the excitement of this traditional dish. To begin, this dish uses a blend of ground sausage and ground beef.

You may have used one or the other for your lasagnas, but the combination creates a truly exquisite flavor. Once these two meats have browned in a skillet, pour in a can of fire-roasted tomatoes. To that, add pepperoni, tomato paste, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes, and one sliced onion. To make the sauce, combine 2 cups water and cover. Then, simmer for 30 minutes to combine the flavors and break down the tomatoes.

The combination of the three meats and spices creates a very unique sauce. After cooking and draining your lasagna noodles, stack them in a 9×13 baking dish. Layer the noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan, then repeat, ending with cheese. This lasagna contains three meats and three cheeses. This adds plenty of flavor and makes it a very hearty main dish.

After you’ve layered the lasagna, bake it for 40 minutes and let it cool for 15 before serving. The top should be toasted around the edges and the cheese completely melted. Serve this lasagna with a salad, a side of vegetables, and/or garlic bread for a comprehensive meal fit for an entire posse of hungry cowboys.
