Most of us celebrate our birthdays with our loved ones and it doesn’t matter whether there’s a party or not. Just a simple ‘happy birthday’ is enough to make us feel that they are thinking about us. But one pregnant mom was left upset after her husband seemed to completely ignore her big day.

The woman took to Mumsnet and wrote: “Today is my birthday, I am 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow and have a lovely eight-year-old boy. The mother explained that her relationship with her children’s father is a little strained as they had been having many arguments lately because of their house renovation.

“There have been two big arguments in the past week and I am just blamed for absolutely everything, everything I do is wrong and selfish apparently,” she said. But when her birthday arrived, her husband did not greet her at all!

Her birthday went completely unnoticed because their son was only eight years old. “Bless him, my son has no idea it’s my birthday, so I just got him ready and he went to school as usual,” she explained. The pregnant mother stated that it was her first birthday without her recently deceased father.

“My partner’s birthday was less than a month after my father died, and I still made arrangements for a lovely weekend away for the three of us,” she explained. Now, the mother wonders if she was unreasonable in wishing her husband a happy birthday. She also stated that she did not expect a gift or a card, and that a simple ‘happy birthday’ would suffice.

Other mothers wished her a happy birthday right away. “Two things to do today, buy a treat or present for yourself, and chuck this useless selfish spiteful bloke out of your life,” one person suggested.

“Your partner sounds quite cold and detached,” wrote another. I understand that this isn’t a quick decision to make, especially with another baby on the way, but I’d be wondering what I was getting out of the relationship.” What are your thoughts on the matter?
