Among the casualties were Hope’s home and a valuable relic: a wedding portrait of her mother, Marcia, and her new groom in his military uniform. Hope happened to be online when a post on Facebook piqued her interest.
A Facebook post from the City of Parkersburg contained an old wedding photo with persons familiar to Hope.”Does anyone recognize this couple?” the post asked. “One of the countless unclaimed tornado objects from previous years. We found this while cleaning up the closet at City Hall! Let’s see if we can identify the couple’s relatives in this shot!”
Hope contacted the City of Parkersburg and discovered her lost wedding photograph. She couldn’t believe someone had taken the time to collect the image from the wreckage of a tornado and submit it in for storage. What a fantastic find. The importance of this recovery cannot be emphasized. This snapshot, thought to be lost forever, now acts as a beacon of hope.
